Irvin's Live Seafood House

this restaurant is really near my house! :D it took over ivins peranakan food - haha it's so strange that IRVINS took over IVINS? i mean, it's like just a difference of one alphabet. initially we thought it was still ivins, just that it was selling seafood, but then we realised it wasnt. and we were soooo sad that ivins was gone :( i have no idea whether we can find it anywhere else in singapore. aww man, our favourite place for peranakan food is gone </3. but but but!!! IRVINS SEAFOOD totally makes up for the fact that ivins is gone. the food is absolutely mind-blowing :O

when i first saw it on the website, i was really excited already! i think i decided what i wanted to eat even before we stepped into the restaurant haha. and sometimes when you have expectations, you might find that reality doesnt match it. but nope, that's not the case at irvins xD it was a thoroughly satisfying meal :D

mm i was wondering which dish to start with haha, they're all so good!!! this is their signature dish - Irvin's Salted Egg Crab  ($23.90). you know i'm a stickler for dirt, which means that i rarely eat crab (although i love chili crab for the sauce! but mostly i'll eat the sauce alone without the crab if i can help it) cos i dont want to get my hands dirty :P haha yes, abit OCD. but this crab, it was IRRESISTIBLE.  haha i'm too excited already, keep using CAPS. but it was great!! the sweet-salty egg yolk sauce was so rich and scrumptious, and the crab was fresh with the meat tender and springy. i just dug into it and heaped massive amounts of sauce on everything, nevermind the possible cholesterol/heart attack which could befall me. it's just once in awhile! ;)

the crispy butter chicken ($15.80) was another chef's recommended dish. sooooo delicious! another ultra sinful dish, but i think i couldnt care less that day haha. crispy chicken, with a fragrant, mouth-watering sauce that i absolutely couldn't resist.

the dry crispy belachan eggplant ($12.80) had the oomph of the chili and was once-again (yes, really every dish was!) drool-worthy. each slice of eggplant was crisply fried on the outside and soft & squishy inside hehe.

the hot plate tofu with special minced pork ($12.80) came with a super generous amount of sauce (yay likes! :D). sizzling hot and fragrant, it was a wonderfully comfy dish.

i have to come back. :D
