Wild Honey

oh dear, my site stats have been dropping terribly since last week. >.< possibly because i've been too busy to write properly? oops. okay i'll put more effort into this one. (:

celebrated papa's birthday by having brunch at wild honey! FINALLY came to this place whee :D :D :D i've been wanting to try it since it opened like...more than a year ago? how time flies! there have been many mixed reviews about this all-day breakfast place, some of which said that it wasnt worth it, considering you had to pay a relatively high price, yet have to do stuff like queuing to order food yourself. hmmm based on my experience, the service was not very good...they took quite a while to serve half our drinks, and one of the staff was very rude when he told me not take photos of the menu. well, that was part of writing a review! hmph. i'm helping to publicize their restaurant! anyway, although the service was not great, the food made up for it pretty well (: in my opinion though, the sweet breakfast options seemed much nicer than the savoury ones.

pancakes are a must-have for my family when we eat breakfast out. the Canadian ($18) consisted of a stack of thick, dense pancakes with a variety of sides - blueberry compote, bacon and maple syrup. i found the pancakes a bit too thick for my liking, but at least they weren't too floury/powdery, so it was not that bad. the blueberry compote was absolutely wonderful! i think the blueberries were steamed/baked till they were soft, and the juices oozed out beautifully.

the European ($18) was a beautifully done eggs benedict sitting atop lightly toasted bread. the poached egg was wonderfully wobbly and came with mushrooms and prosciutto ham. i found the ham rather salty, but when eaten with the egg, it balanced out the flavour quite nicely. its chewy texture was pretty interesting!

i felt that the Tunisan ($18) was the most interesting dish we ordered! after all, i don't suppose you get to try tunisian food often in singapore. in fact, it was my first time trying this cuisine. it was a sizzling pan of spicy tomato stew with pork sausages and with a lovely sunny side up egg buried inside. a slightly fiery dish, it went well with the bread that came with the stew.

i didnt like the Mexican ($18) but it was probably due to my biased dislike of capsicum :p a hearty breakfast burrito with scrambled eggs, black beans and potatoes, this is for someone who loves the beans in mexican food. i love mexican food, but this didnt go well with me. the sauces were yummy though! spicy salsa, sour cream and guacamole.

i ordered the Sweet Morning ($18)! :D bite into the lightly sweetened french toast, and surprise! it's stuffed with a soft grilled peach :) i felt the peach could have been slightly sweeter (since the bread was sweet) but it was lovely! the sides that came with it were blueberry compote, maple syrup and............MASCARPONE! which was absolutely yummy! it was light and tasty, and after doing a bit of research online, i realised it's made from creme fraiche!!! OMG! okay don't laugh at me, im still trying out different kinds of food. but i was really excited when i found out there was creme fraiche in it! yay! (:

overall a pretty good meal, albeit pricey for breakfast. oh and one more thing i couldnt resist taking a photo of:

LOL? apparently the love seats in mandarin gallery are so comfy that they have to restrict people from kissing there. hahaha
